Frommermann – vocal variety show

Sublime vocals, humour and melancholy

Frommermann is unique in its field. Originally begun as a one-off tribute to the Comedian Harmonists, Frommermann has since grown into a versatile, flexible and unique collective. Countless memorable performances both in the Netherlands and abroad have followed, with their almost unparalleled variety of repertoire. This all bears witness to the unbeatable Frommermann formula: irresistible music, delivered with power, class, humour and charm, from seven musicians that deeply understand their craft.

It all began as a one-off project for the Amsterdam Grachtenfestival in 2006. However, it was such a huge success that an invitation from the royal family immediately followed, to perform at the yearly Queens Concert at the Noordeinde Palace. This concert, for Her Majesty the Queen Beatrix, was broadcast by NPS and generated much interest.

Since then, Frommermann has enjoyed tours throughout the Netherlands and beyond with a number of different productions. Their programmes are a captivating mix of humour, sublime singing and touching melancholy. Innovative, surprising arrangements of repertoire from the well-known to the obscure are woven into a exhilarating production, with the collaboration of directors such as Karel de Rooij (Mini & Maxi).

‘The strength of the Frommermann men lies in the general high quality… humour is a constant element that never gets tiresome. The stage is manned by musicians that not only understand their trade, but have fun with it too. The energy pours from the stage, with lucid musical arrangements. Every nuance is present, the men treat each other with deference. Each one takes their solo, there are interesting ensembles, beautiful close harmony. Most importantly: good repertoire, that (in part) thanks to this ensemble is saved from obscurity… an entire evening of top entertainment from these seven gentlemen, that don’t give up for a second. Frommermann is a goldmine that has many years ahead.’ – Dagblad van het Noorden
